Travel

There are two international airports in Taiwan that you can choose in order to arrive at the conference venue. One is Taoyuan International Airport, and another is Kaohsiung International Airport.

If you fly from major international airports in Asia to Kaohsiung International Airport, it will be very convenient to get from this airport to the Garden Villa by MRT or by Taxi (It costs around 15 USD by Taxi).

  • Kaohsiung International Airport has flights to and from many other international destinations in China and other parts of Asia. Of course, it is also easy to transfer to other flights at major international airports like those in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, Shanghai, Beijing, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Taipei, etc.

Transportation from Kaohsiung International Airport to the Conference Venue:

There are two ways to arrive at the conference venue (Garden Villa):

  1. By Taxi: Please go outside the International Airport, and then take the taxi to the Garden Villa.
  2. By MRT:

Please go outside the International Airport, and then turn left to arrive at the MRT station.

Please choose the direction going toward “南岡山Gangshan South,” and then get off at the “Ecological District Station(生態園區站).”

When you arrive at the “Ecological District Station (生態園區站),” please go to exit No. 2. When you arrive at Chongde Road (崇德路), please turn right and then go straight. After you walk around 700 meters on Chongde Road, you will see the Garden Villa (蓮潭國際會館) on the left.

高雄國際機場出境後，有兩種方式可至蓮潭會館：

1.搭乘計程車：

至「國際線航廈一樓到站出口」搭乘計程車至蓮潭會館Garden Villa

2.轉乘捷運後步行：

自國際航廈一樓入境樓面對出口左側轉往捷運站搭乘捷運(往「R24南岡山Gangshan South」方向)，乘車時間約30分鐘，至「R15生態園區站Ecological District」下車

從生態園區站2號出口手扶梯上來後往右，面對博愛三路Boai 3rd Rd.右轉後直行，至第三個路口(崇德路口Chongde Rd.)右轉後直行約700公尺處，步行時間約15分鐘，即可看到蓮潭國際會館於您的左側。

  • Taipei Taoyuan International Airport:

Participants from North-America or other places outside the Asia-Pacific region perhaps could choose direct flights to Taipei Taoyuan International airport, then take the Taoyuan Airport MRT to the Taoyuan HSR (High Speed Rail) Station, and then take Taiwan’s high-speed train to Zuoying HSR Station. The Zuoying HSR Station is not far from the Garden Villa (the Conference Venue); it will take around 10 minutes by Taxi or by Kaohsiung MRT.

Transportation from Taoyuan International Airport to the Conference Venue:

  1. Please leave Taoyuan International Airport via the Exit, and then go to the B2 floor where you will take the Taoyuan Airport MRT.
  2. On the Taoyuan Airport MRT please choose the direction “toward Huanbei station (環北站方向)”; after around 20 minutes you will arrive at the “Taoyuan HSR Station (桃園高鐵站)”.
  3. Please take the “Taiwan High Speed Rail” and get off at “Zuoying station (左營站).”
  4. After you arrive at “Zuoying Station (左營站),” there are two ways to get to the conference venue (Garden Villa):
  1. By Taxi: Please go to Exit Gate No. 5, and then take a taxi to the Garden Villa.
  2. By MRT: Please go to Exit Gate “No. 2,” and then go to the MRT station.

Please take the train going toward “Siaogang (小港)” and get off at the “Ecological District Station(生態園區站)”.

When you arrive at the “Ecological District Station (生態園區站)” please go to “Exit No. 2 (出口二).” Here you will come out on Bo-ai Road (博愛路); please turn right and then walk straight ahead.

When you arrive at Chongde Road (崇德路), please turn right and then go straight. After you walk around 700 meters on Chongde Road, you will see the Garden Villa (蓮潭國際會館) on the left.

1.桃園國際機場出境後至B2搭乘機場捷運(往「A21環北站Huanbei」方向)，乘車時間約20分鐘，至「A18桃園高鐵站Taoyuan HSR Station」下車

2.搭乘高鐵南下列車至「左營站Zuoying」下車，有兩種方式可至蓮潭會館：

(1)搭乘計程車：

至二樓5號出口計程車乘車區搭乘計程車至蓮潭會館Garden Villa

(2)轉乘捷運後步行：

自高鐵站2號出口轉往捷運站搭乘捷運(往「R3小港Siaogang」方向)，乘車時間約5分鐘，至「R15生態園區站Ecological District」下車

從生態園區站2號出口手扶梯上來後往右，面對博愛三路Bo’ai 3rd Rd右轉後直行，至第三個路口(崇德路口Chongde Rd)右轉後直行約700公尺處，步行時間約15分鐘，即可看到蓮潭國際會館於您的左側。

Visas

Many countries’ citizens can get Visa-Exempt permission or Landing Visas to enter Taiwan. However, in some cases Taiwan visas may be needed by conference participants coming from overseas. Therefore those coming from overseas should check with their local Taiwan consulate or a travel agent who deals with Taiwan. In addition, the local conference committee will apply for the necessary permits needed by citizens of Mainland China in order to enter Taiwan. This committee will try to make the process as efficient and convenient as possible.

Invitation letter

The Conference Local Organizing Committee will provide a Letter of Invitation signed by National Kaohsiung Normal University if requested. If you require such a letter, please register for the conference first and then send your request and a copy of the photograph page of your passport to: conference@apnme.org no later than Januray 31, 2018

Trip Advice

The average temperature in April in Kaohsiung is normally around 24 to 27 degrees Celsius. Participants are advised to check the prevailing Short Term Forecast shortly before their departure and prepare accordingly.

In Taiwan, the power sockets used are of Type A or Type B as in the following pictures. The standard voltage is 110 V and the standard frequency is 60 Hz. Please check to see if you need a power plug adapter or voltage converter for the power sockets (outlets) used in Taiwan.

         

Travel insurance

Participants are advised to make their own arrangements for travel and health insurance with their local insurance agency, and also with regard to any necessary medication.

Participants are advised to take good care of their possessions at all times during the conference and while traveling; neither the conference nor any related organizations or persons can accept responsibility for lost or stolen articles.

Currency Exchange

The Taiwanese Dollar (TWD) is the commonly-used currency in Taiwan. Money exchange services are provided at the reception desk in the hotel, but here you can only get USD (United States Dollar), EUR (Euros), Chinese Yuan (CNY, Renminbi), Japanese Yen (JPY) and Hong Kong Dollar (HKD). Some banks in Kaoshiung and other cities in Taiwan may have other currencies—especially the Bank of Taiwan. Of course, paying with a credit card (most likely VISA, Master or JCB) is also convenient in Taiwan.
