The conference hotel is located in a green forested suburb to the east of Nanjing in the Purple Mountain scenic area. The hotel is an urban forest garden hotel run on environmentally friendly principles, aiming, as its website states, for: ‘harmonious co-existence between nature and human beings and emphasising more communication between business and the environment'. Thus we hope your experience of the conference will be complementary to our conference theme, ‘Cultivating morality: human beings, nature and the world'.
The secure location of the hotel gives it a peaceful but purposive ambience. The hotel has recently been upgrade to 5-star and has corresponding facilities and services. The hotel lobby is spacious: here you will be able to register as hotel guests and conference participants. We shall mainly be using this Zijin building which houses the accommodation, meeting rooms and restaurants, serving three main types of Chinese cuisine. Plenary and poster sessions will take place in the Lijing building, reached by a traditional covered walkway, past the tea house on the small lake. We shall have group photos taken against this backdrop.
All the guest rooms are well appointed (e.g. with air conditioning and a personal safe), very comfortable and well serviced (e.g. laundry facilities at cost). The telephone has an IDD facility. There is complimentary broadband Internet connection in every room (remember to bring an adaptor electric plug). There is an ATM machine for RMB and major international currencies may be exchanged in the lobby. (Although the hotel may accept certain credit cards cash is still most commonly used in China.) Other hotel facilities include shops, a business centre, a bar, sauna, indoor swimming pool, KTV, tennis courts, health club, and beauty salon. Information and notices are generally in English and Chinese and some staff speak some English. We shall have students from Nanjing Normal University and our Chinese colleagues willing to help us with any communication needs.
As well as the surrounding small garden, with traditional stone and water features, there is a landscaped park with lake nearby, suitable for longer walks and talks, jogging and running. Within walking distance of the hotel in the forested area there are several historical, cultural and natural sites of interest, including the Ming Tombs and the Villa of Madame Soong Mei-lin (the wife of Chiang Kai-shek and sister in law of Sun Yat-sen). In other nearby locations on Purple Mountain it is possible to visit the Observatory, Zhongshan Botanical Garden, Dr Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum and the Linggu Temple. At the foot of Purple Mountain, near the city walls, is the Nanjing Museum housing historical and cultural treasures. The city centre and business district, about 10 mins away by bus or taxi, is a mix of ultra-modern buildings and tree-lined streets. The riverside is particularly scenic with a covered walkway and nearby is the Confucius Temple and the examination booths for those who aspired to be Mandarins. During the conference there will be an opportunity to visit some of these sites and others, such as Nanjing Normal University across the city, by choosing a tour option (included in the conference fee).

Airport to Hotel
Taxis are readily available from Nanjing airport to the conference hotel. Directions in Chinese on how to reach the conference hotel to give to the taxi driver will be available to download and print from this website. The taxi fee will be approximately 150 RMB. Please ensure you have sufficient cash. (We strongly advise you acquire some Chinese currency (Renminbi (RMB) or Yuan) before you leave your country of origin.)
Nanjing Train Station to Hotel
Nanjing Railway Station is about 10 mins from the conference hotel by taxi. The taxi fare will be about 18 RMB.
